SF4 Alternate Costume

When I first heard news about SF4, the thought that came to my mind was, "Is Sakura gonna be in it?" So I went to the forums and immediately hopped in participating in the one thread dedicated to fans wanting to see the seifuku-wearing school girl back in form.

Since I like tomboys, I really wanted to see Sakura a bit older, and imagined what kind of cool new design Capcom could come up with for her. Well, she's in the game, still wearing the same outfit as before. I think anything else would have been expecting too much, though- as almost every character reappeared in SF4 looking the same as before (more or less, exceptions being Dan and Gen getting minor tweaks to their original designs).

Then I saw there were going to be alternate costumes, so I'm really happy about those. =D A lot of them are really weird, though. I'm not entirely sure why Gouki lost his pants, for example, and Abel's costume is a sort of muscle-shirt that isn't terribly attractive. Chun-Li's slinky dress looks pretty good, and gives a bit of an elegant look to her, but overall appears the same. Crimson Viper's is more revealing, but I'm still not a fan of her hair. lol

Rose and Sakura, though, have very cute redesigns that I really look forward to playing with. xD Rose's is the Thief from Capcom's Dungeons & Dragons Shadows Over Mystara. It cute! Unlike the Thief, her pants are for whatever reason, see-through. Sakura's design is really adorable too. It looks like she's wearing a torn gi-top like Ryu's over her P.E. clothes. Vega (claw)'s redesign is very very awesome, too. He looks all like Antonio Banderas-style suave and charm. I think it fits Vega's character to the tee, a large improvement over the original. (Yes, all they did was add a loose dress shirt and change his mask into a masquerade-sort of thing, but it works.)

So, I'm looking forward to SF4. Yus. Still not certain at all as to who I'll be playing, though. Sakura for sure, maybe Rose. I considered Vega, but I don't think I will like his fighting style. Cammy (who also had a nice alternate treatment) seems to be a good choice as well. Balrog (boxer)'s got an awesome alt-costume. I'd play him just for that. hah!

FEAR2

Since when were mechs a staple of the horror genre? Wait- the right question is: when is a mech not appropriate? =D

The demo was pretty neat. I played through on Easy, so the action was a walk in the park, but the ambiance was pretty neat with creepinesses abound. I got tired of the original FEAR about- ohh, 30% into the game, but the plot crammed into the end was actually very interesting.

Naked Alma grappling, though... o_O;

More on the MacBook

Belay that. 15" with 2.8GHz of processing speed is the choice. Since it's primarily a DAW, I don't really need a huge monitor or anything. It'd make things nicer, yeah, but it's not going to be a multimedia powerhouse.

The processing power will bring a nicer balance to the deal, I believe.

MacBook Pro

I've decided to buy a 17" MacBook Pro. It'll run something like $2.8k. Excited. =D I hope with that, and Logic Studio, I'll be able to interface cleanly with my M-Audio Pro 88 and write awesome musics.

I feel so blessed by this event... the laptop was originally at the end of my wishlist, after aiming for $1,700 worth of music software. There was some money just sitting there that I hadn't even noticed, though. A letter came and I checked the account, finding out that the money inside was just the amount I wanted for this laptop! It's so amazing that the numbers and the timing worked out perfectly so. That's how God rolls. xD

Also, as ghetto as it is, I finally figured out how to get a webpage to display as the site's index. Haha, I'm elated.

The Fox looks to the East

So, Street Fighter: Legend of Chun-Li's coming out 10 days after we get SFIV, there's a Dragonball Evolution movie coming out of Hollywood in like, April of this year, and Keanu Reeves wants to star as Spike Spiegel, too. After the initial eye-rolling and huff-puff, I kinda realized that Hollywood is just trying a new direction, a new fad.

They ran out of ideas, but they've got tons of special effects and such now, so they're taking popular Japanese stuff and making Hollywood movies out of them. Setting aside that distasteful feeling, I think they could possibly become some very cool movies. I just saw the Dragonball Evolution trailer, and it looks... well, nothing like Dragonball. It looks like a cool Hollywood action flick with an unlikely hero coming in to save the world (totally not what Dragonball was about). It seems like it could be neat, so if I completely ignore what I know of Dragonball, I might be able to enjoy this movie quite a bit.

And get a few chuckles out of the silliness of it all.

Legend of Chun-Li is actually something I'm looking forward to. Kristin Kreuk as Chun-Li is *pretty* cute. She doesn't actually look like Chun-Li, but all I have to do is think back to that OTHER Street Fighter movie where they went out and got a Chinese girl to see how disasterous that could be. I want to see Kreuk fight and beat people up. Complete with a HK stunt team and wirework, it might be pretty cool!

I also finally found out why Balrog looks so familiar. He's Bear. From Armageddon. "Leeeeavin', on a jet plane~" Bear.

I'm totally swallowing up all this Street Fighter stuff. =D Excited to be able to play SFIV (no, I don't go to arcades), and looking forward to seeing Kristin Kreuk beat people up. XD

Cowboy Bebop? We'll see. Spike's way more charming than I believe Neo Keanu Reeves could ever be, but there's always room for surprises! And it's pretty much guaranteed that whoever plays Faye Valentine will be hot. I wanna know what Ed's gonna be like, though. That's a frightening thought.

*edit* Oh, I said it was Hollywood looks east, but I realized that Fox is the company behind all three of these productions. So it's really a Fox looks east thing.

Ace Combat

So, I've never really actually played any of the Ace Combat games. A little bit, but it wasn't my cup of tea. The music and storylines, however, rival the best Hollywood movies. I didn't want to remix Ace Combat music because there's basically nothing I can do to make them better.

That said, I do want to bring an AC remix to OCR, since the music is so amazing, I hope for more people to hear it. I want to do a song in the chill, exotic New Age style of Angel Tears. I'm having a hard time though. The styles are very different, and so far I've scratched one (short) start for the mix - it sounded more like Enya than New Age.

Nothing wrong with Enya, but I would like to try something with a Middle Eastern flair. Let's hope I can pull this off. >.<

Kara-Turian Nights

I am pooped. Just finished bouncing the mp3 of Kara-Turian Nights, remix of NWN main theme for OC Remix. There's a feeling of finality! I wonder if there's any part I can get Tiffany to sing for. I don't think there's any place for it, though. =/

-update- The mix is uploaded and submitted to OC Remix. You can find it here.
